"Fragment" ceramic scented candle by Grégoire Lemaire

Sculptor and ceramicist Grégoire Lemaire works across crafts. On his pieces, he sculpts and engraves his labyrinthine motifs. For Estampe, he hand-engraves clay to lift an imprint, used to create a fragment for this scented porcelain candle.

In Gien, on the banks of the Loire, he throws large ceramic pieces then engraves them. A blade, a few points he makes himself.

From clay engraving to imprint

Grégoire engraves large clay plates, inks them, lifts the imprint as one pulls a linocut. This imprint becomes the decor, applied to the shell by pad-printing craftswomen, across the Loire.
